Professor Tamar R. Schwartz teaches in the areas of legal writing, analysis, and research. She joined the Law School in 2005 as the Director of the then adjunct-based first-year Lawyering Skills program. She served in that capacity until 2013 and is now a member of the legal writing faculty. Prior to entering academia, Professor Schwartz served as the executive director of Legal Information Network for Cancer (LINC) and was a counselor at the Virginia Department of Employee Relations Counselors. She also practiced law in the Washington, D.C. office of Morrison & Foerster, focusing on intellectual property law, and served as counsel to the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues in the U.S. House of Representatives. Professor Schwartz is an active member of the Association of Legal Writing Directors.
